Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine was cut off from communications following a raid on his residence as the country's vote count dragged on, his party said, with security forces moving to limit contact amid fears of unrest over the results, according to a report by Guardian Nigeria. A senior party official, Nkunyingi Muwada, said security personnel in plain black attire scaled the wall of Wine's compound and confiscated phones belonging to those inside.

Wine's party initially posted on social media that he had been forcibly taken from his compound by army helicopter, a claim it later deleted; the military dismissed the report as absurd and accused the party of trying to incite supporters. With more than 90 percent of votes counted, the Electoral Commission had Museveni leading with roughly 72 percent to Wine's 24.5 percent, putting the 81-year-old on course to extend his rule into a seventh term.

Wine has accused the government of massive ballot-stuffing and of using an internet blackout imposed ahead of the vote to attack party officials out of public view. The combination of restricted communications, the blackout and at least ten reported deaths during the election period has drawn concern from international observers over the conditions under which the count was finalized.
